Living Out Our Faith Through Service

At Saint James, we are a missional church—committed to ministries that promote the well-being of our neighbors and embody the justice and compassion of Christ. As a Matthew 25 congregation, we take seriously the call to serve those who are hungry, hurting, overlooked, or systemically excluded.

Our outreach efforts reflect a deep connection to our surrounding community, as well as a desire to help dismantle the disparities that impact Black and Brown communities in Greensboro and beyond. This includes ongoing work around health and wellness, where we seek to address health inequities through education, access, and care—recognizing that wellness is deeply spiritual as well as physical

Mission of the Month

Each month, we highlight a Mission of the Month—a hands-on initiative that invites our members to give, serve, and advocate. These efforts range from school supply drives and seasonal giving campaigns to food justice programs and voter education.

Blessing Box

One of our most visible and consistent ministries is the Blessing Box, located just outside the church. Stocked with non-perishable food, toiletries, and other daily essentials, it provides immediate, round-the-clock support to anyone in need. The Blessing Box is also a central piece of our partnership with the Triad Black Faith Leaders and Black Farmers Network, a local collaboration among churches and agricultural leaders working to fight food insecurity and increase access to healthy, affordable food.

Education support

Our commitment to education stretches from elementary school through college, offering support through tutoring, mentoring, and community presence. We recognize that nurturing the next generation of leaders begins with ensuring they are seen, resourced, and encouraged at every stage of learning.

Civic Presence

In addition, Saint James is a proud participant in the Black and Brown Women’s Voting Initiative, a partnership with the Beloved Community Center that supports civic engagement, voter education, and advocacy for equity at the local and national levels.

Through all of these partnerships and programs, we are committed to addressing real needs with compassion, humility, and joy. Together, we seek to be a faith community that feeds mind, body, and soul—

living out the Gospel through action, justice, and love.
