Our Commitment to Justice
Rooted in scripture, shaped by our history
At Saint James Presbyterian Church, justice is not an accessory to our faith—it is at the heart of it. As a Matthew 25 congregation, we believe the Gospel calls us to confront injustice wherever it appears: in systems that exclude, in policies that harm, and in the everyday realities faced by those who are marginalized or overlooked. Our commitment to justice is rooted in scripture, shaped by our historical legacy as a Black Presbyterian church, and carried forward through active, ongoing work in our community.
From food insecurity and health disparities to voter suppression and educational inequity, we partner with others to create change that is both compassionate and systemic. Through initiatives like the Blessing Box, the Triad Black Faith Leaders and Black Farmers Network, and the Black and Brown Women’s Voting Initiative in partnership with the Beloved Community Center, we seek to dismantle barriers and restore dignity.
We are proud participants in the Pulpit Forum of Greensboro and Vicinity, a vibrant community of clergy and leaders committed to social justice, spiritual growth, and collective action. We also engage in the Interfaith Affordable Housing Initiative, uniting with other faith communities to create sustainable housing solutions for those most impacted by economic inequality.
This work is not an event—it’s a practice. It’s how we love our neighbors, how we follow Christ, and how we live out our faith with both courage and care.
