Ministries and Programs of the Ministry Team
The Ministry Team shall be responsible for providing oversight for all aspects of ministerial outreach at SJPC. Active elders (those currently serving on the Session) shall provide leadership for this area along with volunteers who desire to work with the team.
Youth Outreach
ACT (Awareness and Character-building for Teen) Summer Drama and Step Camp– The ACT Camp takes place from June – July. It is a time for students to learn the skills of stepping, drama, memorization in a nurturing Christian environment. The camp culminates in a 2 Day musical production presented to the greater community.
Girl Scouts – The troop serves elementary to high school age girls. Girl Scouts help to develop Christian character and citizenship among girls while troop leaders serve as teachers and mentors.
NOW (No Other Way Youth Group) – The No Other Way Youth provides fellowship opportunities that nurture Christian formation through trips, participation in mission activities and ministry at SJPC and in the greater community.
Scholarship Committee – SJPC supports high school graduates and college students through providing supplemental funding to assist in pursing higher education. The committee coordinates efforts of all groups raising funds for scholarships. The committee also offers information and education regarding funding sources available to students attending college and/or graduate school.
Young Adults & Campus Ministry – The Faith Point Fellowship serves young adults & campus ministry focusing on young adults 18 years old to 35 years old. The colleges include any college in the Greensboro area including — North Carolina A&T State University and Bennett College. This ministry includes a ministry board that helps to coordinate activities as its primary outreach. Coordinators shall work with the Faith Point Fellowship Board to make certain that programs and events designed to reach young adults are affective and successful.
Older Adult Outreach
Golden Rays Senior Adult Exercising Class – This ministry provides health and recreation classes that aid in keeping senior adults alive and active. The class meets twice a week and is comprised of Saint James church members and members in the community at large.
Senior Wheels– Seniors at SJPC participate in a Senior Wheels ministry that provides transportation to and from doctor’s visit for seniors who request it.
Community Outreach
Peacemaking – The purpose of the Peacemaking committee is to lead the congregation in the promotion of peace within our homes, community, nation and world.
Holistic Ministries – Aerobics and exercise classes, workshops related to health and wellness, as well as avocation and dissemination of information regarding health screening falls under this ministry.
Congregational Nurse Program – The SJPC Congregational Nurse provides a place where members and friends can inquire about health care,receive screenings for various diseases. This program is in partnership with the Moses Cone Health System.
Touching Lives Foundation – The Touching Lives Foundation is a not-for-profit established by SJPC to help establish ministries that address the health and wellness of the greater community. The leadership for TLF comes from board members comprised of SJPC members and members of the community at large.
Emergency Financial Aid
Emergency Financial Support – The outreach ministry team serves the community by carefully screening those in need of emergency financial assistance and working with other agencies to provide such support.
