On Your First Visit…
We are a people who are striving to touch lives through Jesus Christ. Yes we are excited about what God is doing here and invite you to visit soon.
Where are the services held?
Saint James services are in our sanctuary on the southeast side of Greensboro, NC near Florida and Bennett Streets. We have two worship services at 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. and Sunday School at 9:45 a.m.
Our pastor is the dynamic Reverend Dr. Diane Givens Moffett. She delivers practical, life changing teaching that brings understanding to how God moves in our lives. On occasion, guest preachers will share messages that help to further connect us to God.
What kind of church are you?
Saint James is a part of Presbyterian Church (USA) which has about 2.5 million members and more than 11,000 churches. To learn more about Presbyterian Church (USA) visit www.pcusa.org .
Saint James has roots going back over 140 years . Our rich heritage includes starting the first formal education for African Americans in Greensboro and connecting to the community in ways that address issues of the day.
While people from all over central North Carolina join us, our primary ministry is to our neighbors in the Triad area.
Saint James is a purpose driven church that believes that God has called us to live out our purpose “to touch lives through Jesus Christ by providing joyful worship, life changing teaching and dynamic meaningful ministries that serve to bring a new generation of believers and to nurture those who are already growing in faith.” We have organized our ministries around this purpose.
Most importantly, Saint James is a safe place for people who are looking for answers to their spiritual questions. It is also a place where those who have decided to follow Jesus Christ can be encouraged and grow in their spiritual understanding.
What should I wear?
Feel free to wear whatever clothes make you feel most comfortable. We care most that you are here, than what you wear.
Will I have to say anything, sign anything or be singled out during the service?
Feel at ease, we will not put you on the spot or try to embarrass you in any way. We are a welcoming congregation that will ask you to sign our guest’s card so that we can collect some basic information. All information collected will be held confidential. If you prefer not to share this information, that’s all right with us.
Though we do receive offering during our service, we don’t want anyone to feel obligated to give. We welcome you!
What about my kids?
We have happy sacks for children that visit. These sacks are small tokens to welcome the kids and share Christian learning for the young. We have a staffed nursery available during the 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. services.
Parents are welcomed to visit to observe any of our children’s ministries.
